Currently I am rearing a very small spawn of very special Dayak Crowntails. Dayaks are tri colours carrying the colours of the Thai flag.. red, white and blue. Hopefully I will get success with a few of these juveniles to look like their father.
If you are interested in this spawn please email me and I will make sure you get first choice when they are available. 19/02/05 - Surprise.. I spawned these 2 just on 2 weeks ago and although we got off to a rocky start with dad eating most of the eggs. He did manage to leave a few so at last count I have 13 healthy little fry swimming around. I was going to spawn the parents again in the hope of getting some more but I might hold off as the amount of fry is increasing with each count. 19/03/05 - Well a bit of a horror story happening hear. I lost my beautiful dayak daddy just about overnight and during the same time i made some terrible choices with the spawn. As the weather had been fairly warm i chose to not heat the water i was changing the tank with and also something i never do i poured it straight from a jug albeit over a graduated period. I should have known from past experience that the spawn would not take to it and of course i lost a large portion of my spawn. I also chose to leave algae in the tank that grew from the sunlight and unfortunately some of the fish got tangled in it and I lost them too.... so I apologise to those of you waiting for lots of these babies. But the ones I do have are now healthy, growing great and so far showing colours much like their mum... way to early to say exactly what colour they will be but the blues are coming out. 1/04/05 - Here is a pic of one. This fella is the largest but all 3 seem to look like him. One seems to have black where this one has red. Im pretty proud of all 3. I am pretty certain 2 are male.
I apologise for the pics, these guys and gal proved very hard to take.
